Ever since their inaugural season in 2017, this has been the goal. To hoist the Stanley Cup. They were beaten in 5 games during that season in the Stanley Cup final and have waited five seasons to get another shot.
Jonathan Marchessault has been here the entire time Vegas has been a franchise. His 25-points in the playoffs resulted in him being awarded the Conn Smythe trophy. He led the team with 13 goals. Three other players had at least 20 points in the playoffs with Jack Eichel (26), Mark Stone (24) and Chandler Stephenson (20) being the ones.
Goaltender Adin Hill has cinched himself as a legend for the Golden Knights. Injuries all season left the position in a revolving door. When he arrived during the regular season he brought some stability, but wasn’t awarded the full-time spot until another injury put him in the spotlight during the playoffs. He stymied the Florida Panthers all series long.
It was a dominant run for the Golden Knights that has them in position to remain contenders for the next few seasons. Much of their core roster is signed to sizable contracts. If Adin Hill stays in the same stratosphere as his playoff performance, Vegas will be tough to beat.
Congratulations to the Vegas Golden Knights on winning their first Stanley Cup title.
