We have arrived at the halfway point of the NFL season. Here’s a brief rundown of who are contenders, outsiders and are planning for next season.
1. Houston Texans
The competitive window could be closing faster than the Texans think, but protecting Deshaun Watson must be a priority.
2. Tennessee Titans
If Marcus Mariota is healthy and productive, they could be on top of this tough division.
3. Indianapolis Colts
Losing Andrew Luck to retirement will sting, but this season shouldn’t be a lost cause with Jacoby Brissett who was solid as the starter just two seasons ago.
4. Jacksonville Jaguars
A lot has to go right, but if there’s a repeat of last season there will be a lot of changes.
We’ve seen this before. Whether it was Barry Sanders retiring just before the 1999 season when he was only 30 years old. Charles Johnson retiring before the 2016 season when he was also just 30 years old. Even Jim Brown retired when he was 29 years old before the 1966 season. Now Andrew Luck has retired at the age of 29 before the start of the 2019 season.
