8 In A Row

They boast the best defense in the league this season, but they’ve had three different quarterbacks start a game for them this year. Usually that’s a bad sign, but not for the San Francisco 49ers. They are currently in the midst of an 8-game winning streak and with the Las Vegas Raiders and the Arizona Cardinals as their last two opponents it could be a 10-game winning streak. Their current quarterback Brock Purdy is passing every test opposing teams have thrown at him so far. There will be more no doubt as they approach the playoffs. For now just marvel at how this is being done and wonder why it doesn’t happen more often.

Dallas’ Not So Secret Weapon

I’ve been hearing about it for a while now. RB Tony Pollard needs to be utilized more in the Dallas Cowboys offense. That has certainly been the case this season and it was helped by an injury to RB Ezekiel Elliott. With Elliott’s return this past week against the Minnesota Vikings there was a thought that Pollard’s usage would be reduced. On the contrary that didn’t happen at all. Now Pollard wasn’t the only reason why the Cowboys destroyed the Vikings 40-3. An Actual Must See Game In The NFC East?

I’ve said for many years now that the NFC East is a Jekyll and Hyde division. I never know which version of the four teams will show up in a given week. Dare I say that may be changing now with the way the Dallas Cowboys and the Philadelphia Eagles have been playing this year. For Dallas they are winning games without their star quarterback Dak Prescott. Backup QB Cooper Rush has been solid and the Cowboys’ defense has been among the best in the league. Their dominance was on full display against the Los Angeles Rams this past week, but their biggest test will come against the undefeated Philadelphia Eagles on Sunday night. Not to mention the New York Giants are 4-1, but I’m not quite there with saying they’re contenders just yet. Assuming the Cowboys-Eagles matchup next week lives up to the hype, this will shape the hierarchy for the NFC the rest of the season.

These Guys Are Pretty Good

Take away the fact that the Buffalo Bills committed 4 turnovers, they forced 3 via interception against the Los Angeles Rams. If you cut the turnovers in half to only two, the Bills absolutely dominated this matchup. The Rams had moments in the first half where they could have pulled away and taken command of the game. Buffalo was relentless in their pass rush though and totaled 7 sacks for the game. LA was shutout for the second half and Josh Allen might not have needed to make a statement in the first game, but his play sure seemed like he wanted to. What looked to be a good opening game matchup ended up being rather one-sided.
