Recap of Wild Card Weekend

One Down

This is becoming a well oiled machine. 49ers QB Brock Purdy threw for 332 yards and 3 touchdown passes in his first playoff start against the Seattle Seahawks. RB Christian McCaffrey ran for 119 yards with a receiving touchdown and WR Deebo Samuel had 133 receiving yards and a touchdown catch. The defense forced two turnovers in the second half and nearly shutout Seattle in the second half giving up a touchdown in garbage time. This was the third time facing their division rival and the 49ers swept them in impressive fashion. It’ll be interesting if this continues.

That Shouldn’t Have Happened

I didn’t even realize it until the game was over. Matt Ryan was the losing quarterback of another epic collapse. He was the quarterback for the Atlanta Falcons back when they blew a 28-3 lead in Super Bowl 51. Now he is apart of the biggest comeback win in NFL history with the Minnesota Vikings beating Ryan and the Indianapolis Colts in overtime. The Colts were winning 33-0 at halftime. I pretty much had written this game off when it was 30-0. The game was still on in the background, but I didn’t get back into it until I was made aware of the Vikings efforts when they were down by 8. Too many Matt Ryan 3 and outs and an awful display by the Colts defense are why the Vikings came back in this game. Minnesota also showed that they are a flawed team by the way they played in the first half. Either way the result of this game shouldn’t have happened.

Yeah, That Was Good

If there was a better way for the league to market their NFL+ service, I haven’t seen it yet. The game between the Minnesota Vikings and the Buffalo Bills can’t be quantified in a highlight package. You have to see it from beginning to end. The plays being made by Vikings WR Justin Jefferson and Bills WR Stephon Diggs were out of this world. When you thought the game was over with Buffalo having the ball on their own 1-yard line, they fumbled the snap and Minnesota recovered it for a touchdown. Of course this game would eventually go to overtime, but a an interception thrown by Josh Allen sealed the victory for the Vikings who are now 8-1. Consider watching a full replay of this one. You won’t regret it.
