American League Central

Standard

* – indicates new to team

1. Kansas City Royals

Their chances of repeating rest solely on the bullpen being a dominant force.

2. Cleveland Indians

The starting rotation is stacked and can match up with any in baseball.

3. Detroit Tigers

An offseason was spent finally remaking the bullpen.

4. Minnesota Twins

They peaked earlier than most expected. Now there are some expectations to compete for a postseason berth.

5. Chicago White Sox

Acquiring Todd Frazier might be a mute point for a team that had a lot of underachieving players last year.

Player to Watch: P Yordano Ventura Kansas City Royals

He took a few steps back last season as far as maturation goes, but he has the stuff to be perennial ace of a rotation. This is the year that he must start to become that if they want to start giving their bullpen a night off once in a while.

Best Acquisition: P Francisco Rodriguez Detroit Tigers

His prime is long past him, but he still is a quality closer and one that Detroit desperately needed. The Tigers could be a sneaky good team with him saving close to 90% of their games.

New Kid on the Block: OF Byron Buxton Minnesota Twins

He’s being touted as the ‘next big thing’ and this will be his year to show his talents. The Twins are expected to be competitive, but if Buxton starts living up to his potential, they could be really good now and for many more years.
