Week 1 Review of the NFL

Standard

These Guys Are Pretty Good

Take away the fact that the Buffalo Bills committed 4 turnovers, they forced 3 via interception against the Los Angeles Rams. If you cut the turnovers in half to only two, the Bills absolutely dominated this matchup. The Rams had moments in the first half where they could have pulled away and taken command of the game. Buffalo was relentless in their pass rush though and totaled 7 sacks for the game. LA was shutout for the second half and Josh Allen might not have needed to make a statement in the first game, but his play sure seemed like he wanted to. What looked to be a good opening game matchup ended up being rather one-sided.

1. Los Angeles Rams

They punched their ticket and hoisted the Lombardi trophy at their own stadium. Now they’re poised to do it again.

2. San Francisco 49ers

A talented roster will now have Trey Lance taking charge at quarterback.

3. Arizona Cardinals

Extensions were given to head coach Kliff Kingsbury and QB Kyler Murray. Now they need to get some playoffs victories.

4. Seattle Seahawks

The rebuild is commencing and time will tell if head coach Pete Carroll and company will see it through.

NFC South

Standard

1. Tampa Bay Buccaneers

The retirement and return of QB Tom Brady was at the forefront of their offseason.

2. New Orleans Saints

This will be an interesting year for this franchise as Sean Payton stepped down as head coach after last season.

3. Carolina Panthers

They went after another former top-3 pick in QB Baker Mayfield to resurrect this current roster construction.

4. Atlanta Falcons

It was a swing and a miss in trying to get QB Deshaun Watson and the result is Marcus Mariota is now the quarterback.

Standard

1. Green Bay Packers

Even trading away one of the best receivers in the league, this is still their division to lose.

2. Minnesota Vikings

Hiring new head coach Kevin O’Connell should provide a spark the offense desperately needs. Now the defense on the other hand.

3. Detroit Lions

It’s hard not to root for this franchise to finally turn the corner. Head coach Dan Campbell is the guy that could do that.

4. Chicago Bears

A new era is beginning in Chicago. All eyes will be on QB Justin Fields to see if he can improve upon a forgettable rookie season.
