This was one of the most dominant playoff runs in recent memory. The Denver Nuggets earned the number one seed during the regular season and showed why they were the best team in the Western Conference.
For Nikola Jokic, he has certainly earned a spot in the top-5 current players in the NBA. Being named the Finals MVP adds to his legacy as there doesn’t seem to be any chance of him slowing down anytime soon.
Denver built their core through the draft with Jokic being a 2nd round pick in 2014. Jamal Murray and Michael Porter Jr. were lottery picks in 2016 and 2018 respectively. All three have played large roles when healthy in their teams success.
There is no sign of Denver falling out of contention. Even with upcoming salary restraints, they have their top-3 players signed to long-term deals. They will continue to build their depth through the draft and stay in the thick as title contenders.
Congratulations to the Denver Nuggets on winning their first NBA championship.
