10 Questions Heading Into Spring Training

Halloween came and went. We stuffed our faces during Thanksgiving and celebrated the season at Christmas. We rang in the New Year and let Valentines go to the wayside. Pretty soon the unofficial holiday of Opening Day will be upon us and there are always a ton of questions as to what the new baseball season will bring us. 2015 Winter Meetings Recap

The talk of the annual Winter Meetings in baseball usually is dominated by one team. Like in the case of last years meetings, the San Diego Padres made many trades that were supposed to help them get back into contention. Those moves didn’t quite pan out and this year they’ve remained quiet. Lots of rumors get floated around and it gets hard to really figure out what is and isn’t true. There were some moves that were made before the meeting took place in Nashville, Tennessee, but we’ll take a quick look at what was accomplished during the four day event. Continue reading

2015 World Series Preview

Two teams that haven’t won a World Series since the mid-1980s. The New York Mets in 1986 and the Kansas City Royals in 1985. Those are pretty long droughts. Kansas City could have ended it last year, but lost in 7 games to the San Francisco Giants. The Mets last saw a World Series in the year 2000, but were thumped by the crosstown New York Yankees. Both teams have great bullpens which are a staple of a championship caliber team this day and age in baseball. The Mets have the hottest hitter in the postseason and the Royals are coming off an amazing six game ALCS. Every game should be a pitchers duel, but don’t mistake the offenses’ being the x-factor.
