Buffalo Ain’t Going Away
For the first half it was looking like the Buffalo Bills were gonna get blown out and lose the AFC East to the New England Patriots. The second half showed that the Bills weren’t gonna go away that easily. QB Josh Allen once again proved why he was the MVP last season with a 3-TD performance through the air and with the help of RB James Cook who ran for two touchdowns. Buffalo’s defense did well in the second half aside from allowing two rushing touchdowns to Patriots QB Drake Maye and two long rushing touchdowns to RB TreVeyon Henderson for the entirety of the game. The one weakness of the Bills is their defense and it keeps rearing its head at the worst times. Yet, Allen is playing at another MVP level for them and that’s why they can’t be counted out of any game this season.
Trevor Is All Right
It was becoming another struggle for Jaguars QB Trevor Lawrence when the season started. In his last three games though he has shown why he was the number one overall pick in 2021. He has thrown 9 touchdown passes and more importantly thrown zero interceptions. When he doesn’t commit turnovers the Jaguars are on point offensively. They are a train wreck when the turnovers start to mount on offense. This last week against the lowly New York Jets showed what Lawrence is capable of by throwing 5 touchdown passes and rushing for another. What was more impressive about this current streak is that Lawrence had really turned a corner when they played the Indianapolis Colts. If he can repeat this against one of the best defenses in the league in the Denver Broncos, then we might have to consider that the Jaguars finally have something with Trevor Lawrence at the helm.
The End Of This Era
Every era must come to an end. It’s not meant to last forever. That end appears to have happened for the Kansas City Chiefs. It happened before QB Patrick Mahomes left the game with what became to be a torn ACL. The Chiefs were abysmal on offense and that has been an issue for many season now. The offensive line was in tatters with the amount of injuries and inconsistencies all over. There hasn’t been a running game for many years now and they hit rock bottom this season. Their elite defense can only do so much and they have lost many playmakers the last few off-seasons. But even that defense has had moments of lapses when it matters most. The questions about Mahomes’ recovery are valid, but will head coach Andy Reid return for another season and how will that salary cap work next year to improve this roster, because there are a lot of improvements that need to be made. This franchise hasn’t been in this spot looking outside of the playoffs since 2014. And we haven’t seen them not make an appearance in the AFC Championship game since 2017. This is a first for Patrick Mahomes since being the starting quarterback and I’m not so sure it will ever be that easy for him again.
