Week 10 Review of the NFL

Don’t Stop Feeding Him

Indianapolis Colts RB Jonathan Taylor is well on his way to surpassing his rushing yard total from last season. Chances are that he will pass his career high of 1,811 yards in 2021. This past week he ran for 244 yards on 32 carries with 3 touchdowns. He isn’t just a one dimensional back as he will have a career year receiving as he has 30 catches for 260 yards. His career highs were 40 catches for 360 yards also in 2021. The Colts know where their strength lies and that is with Taylor being active early and often. He must be in the conversation for MVP with this kind of production. You take him away from the Colts and this team won’t function properly on offense.

It’s Time To Take Them Seriously

The New England Patriots have rattled off seven consecutive victories now and the latest one came on the road against the Tampa Bay Buccaneers. QB Drake Maye is showing that he is exactly what this franchise needed at the quarterback position. He is among the leaders in passing yards, touchdowns, quarterback rating and completion percentage. The accuracy he has shown throughout the year has been a bit of a surprise, especially when he launches the ball over 20 yards, which happens more often this season with more established playmakers. Their defense has taken shape into a stellar unit and now their rookie RB TreVeyon Henderson is getting more opportunities to showcase his prowess out of the backfield. Yes, their schedule has been extremely easy, but with that they are winning when they are the clear favorites which is the whole point of this in the end isn’t it? They do have a rematch with the Buffalo Bills in Week 15 and then play the Baltimore Ravens on the road the week after. Aside from that their schedule remains manageable and they should be considered contenders unless proven otherwise.

He Is The MVP Right Now

There are many players that are in the conversation for MVP at the end of the season. One is standing out among them and that is Los Angeles Rams QB Matthew Stafford. One gigantic reason why he is the frontrunner currently is the fact that if he were to be out for any length of time, the Rams offense would not function nearly as effectively without him. When he’s playing everything clicks and it looks relatively easy when you’re throwing to Davante Adams and Puka Nacua every week. This last week he was methodical in dismantling the Rams division rival the San Francisco 49ers. The Niners defense is about as banged up as a unit can get at this point of the season, but Stafford didn’t seem to sweat much throughout the entire game. He has only thrown 2 interceptions the entire season so far, his last one came during Week 3. In his last three games he has thrown 13 touchdown passes and 0 interceptions. That kind of streak puts you at the top of any awards discussion. If the Rams and Stafford continue this streak next week against the Seattle Seahawks then the rest of the league will perhaps start to take notice.
