You Had A Two Touchdown Lead
Injuries affect every team so I won’t emphasize that here with the Miami Dolphins. Their offensive line was banged up on Monday night and they didn’t have WR Tyreek Hill for a lot of the game against Tennessee. Their defense under defensive coordinator Vic Fangio played some of the worst football on that side of the ball this season. They had a two touchdown lead with 4:39 left in the game. The Titans erased that lead in the snap of a finger and that was thanks in large part to Miami going three and out after Tennessee scored a touchdown being down 27-21. The Dolphins proved how much they need Tyreek Hill in order for the offense to function. They also were exposed for how awful their defense is when push came to shove in crunch time.
Panic Time In Philly?
If you take into account that the Philadelphia Eagles needed to win late against the Kansas City Chiefs and the Buffalo Bills in consecutive weeks, they would have been on a 4-game losing streak currently instead of a 2-game losing streak. It isn’t a time to panic if you’re the Eagles, but the fans are another story. This isn’t the same team that appeared in the Super Bowl last season. The defense, particularly on the passing side has been near the bottom of the statistical category most of the season. Third down in particular has not been their strong suit. With that, QB Jalen Hurts isn’t playing with a lead most of the time this year and while he has been great for them, all those ‘Philly shoves’ or ‘tush pushes’ are adding up. He’s fumbling a lot this year and his interception number is up from last year. Should the Eagles not win the division this year, it will be a harder road to get back to the Super Bowl. This last month of the season will be a big test to see if the Eagles have some resiliency.
He Was Offside, Deal With It
For a team that has been used to getting away with some bad calls that went their way over the last few seasons, they were surprised to see a call not go their way in a crucial game at home against Buffalo. Simply put, the offside call against WR Kadarius Toney was the correct call and it needed to be called. The way Chiefs QB Patrick Mahomes and head coach Andy Reid handled themselves after the fact was an embarrassment. Mahomes and the offense had three more plays to get the first down after the penalty was called. So in fact the game wasn’t over yet when the penalty was called. Yet, the way Mahomes and the Chiefs offense finished that game showed that they threw in the towel after that call. It especially showed as the Chiefs didn’t convert the first down and Mahomes went berserk and wouldn’t stop as he voiced his frustrations to Bills QB Josh Allen after the game. Andy Reid was going to defend his quarterback and team in the moment, but he knows Toney was offside. For him to say a warning should have been given and not a penalty is just embarrassing. Kansas City was rightfully chastised for the most part after the fact. Going forward they need to focus more on staying on-side and catching the ball when it comes to them.
