They’re Getting Hot At The Right Time
Don’t look now, but the Green Bay Packers have won their last three games and are in the middle of the playoff hunt in the NFC. QB Jordan Love is playing at an elite level right now and the defense played their best game against the defending champion Kansas City Chiefs. Green Bay will have to contend with Minnesota, Seattle and the LA Rams for a Wild Card spot going forward. Their next three games are against the New York Giants, Tampa Bay and Carolina. Winnable games and that could put them in the driver seat going into January.
Redemption In Philly
Aside from their first two drives being 3-and-outs, the 49ers dominated the matchup in Philadelphia against the Eagles. They were determined to not have a similar outcome to last years NFC Championship game. If he hasn’t become apparent to you yet, RB Christian McCaffrey should be considered a MVP candidate going forward. This isn’t to take away from what QB Brock Purdy has been doing this season, but if you take McCaffrey off this team, the offense just isn’t the same. WR Deebo Samuel also showed how important he is with his three touchdown performance. San Francisco plays host to Seattle next week and can pretty much wrap up the NFC West with a victory. This win in Philadelphia though could help them get home field advantage if things fall their way.
A Blown Opportunity
With Kansas City losing their game on Sunday night, there was a chance for Jacksonville to take advantage in the standings for home field advantage in the AFC. Since the Jaguars lost to the Chiefs earlier in the season, Kansas City holds the tie breaker against Jacksonville. Also with Houston and Indianapolis both winning on Sunday, a win for the Jaguars on Monday night would keep them ahead of those two for the AFC South lead. Little did they expect that the Cincinnati Bengals would play some of their best football of the year and without their franchise QB Joe Burrow. Enter QB Jake Browning who at times made Bengals’ fans forget that Burrow was hurt. He completed 32 of 37 pass attempts for 354 yards and one touchdown. He also ran for a touchdown and was only sacked twice as the offensive line played to their potential. This win easily keeps the Bengals playoff hopes alive in a stacked AFC Wild Card race. As for Jacksonville, they are still ahead by a game over the Texans and Colts for the division. However, if QB Trevor Lawrence (who exited the Monday night game with what was diagnosed as a high ankle sprain) misses any significant time, this could spell doom for their playoff chances down the stretch.
