1. New Orleans Saints
They should win this division by default simply for having the better quarterback in Derek Carr.
2. Atlanta Falcons
Back-to-back 7-win seasons has Atlanta primed for a chance to take this extremely weak division.
3. Tampa Bay Buccaneers
They were wildly inconsistent last year, but won the division because Tom Brady was around. Now QB Baker Mayfield has replaced the retired Brady. This will be interesting to watch.
4. Carolina Panthers
It will be a painful ride, but the franchise is Bryce Young’s to lead going forward at quarterback.
Head Coach: Dennis Allen
Key Position: Offense
The revolving door at quarterback since Drew Brees retired has now stopped with the acquisition of QB Derek Carr. He immediately settles the offense which has been influx the last two seasons. He has plenty of targets to throw to with WR Chris Olave and a hopefully healthy WR Michael Thomas. TE Juwan Johnson is an intriguing target who could pile up the touchdowns. The offensive line if healthy is among the best in the league. With RB Alvin Kamara going to serve a suspension to start the year, RB Jamaal Williams will be given plenty of scoring opportunities. Also rookie RB Kendre Miller could be a sneaky good option.
Key Acquisitions: QB Derek Carr (Las Vegas Raiders), OL Max Garcia (Arizona Cardinals), TE Foster Moreau (Las Vegas Raiders), RB Jamaal Williams (Detroit Lions), DT Khalen Saunders (Kansas City Chiefs), DT Nathan Shepherd (NY Jets)
Key Rookies: DT Bryan Bresee, DE Isaiah Foskey, RB Kendre Miller
Head Coach: Arthur Smith
Key Position: Quarterback
The former 3rd round pick from last year Desmond Ridder has been given the job as the starting quarterback for the Falcons. He looked good late in the year last season and is quickly developing chemistry with his top targets, WR Drake London and TE Kyle Pitts. Those two could have sneaky good seasons if Ridder continues to improve. Rookie RB Bijan Robinson is expected to be involved heavily in the passing game and isn’t too shabby a runner either. Atlanta will be an intriguing team to watch.
Key Acquisitions: DB Jessie Bates II (Cincinnati Bengals), DL Calais Campbell (Baltimore Ravens), LB Bud Dupree (Tennessee Titans), LB Kaden Elliss (New Orleans Saints), CB Tre Flowers (Cincinnati Bengals), QB Taylor Heinicke (Washington Commanders), WR Mack Hollins (Las Vegas Raiders), CB Mike Hughes (Detroit Lions), CB Jeff Okudah (Detroit Lions), DT David Onyemata (New Orleans Saints), TE Jonnu Smith (New England Patriots)
Key Rookies: RB Bijan Robinson, OL Matthew Bergeron, DL Zach Harrison, CB Clark Phillips III
Head Coach: Todd Bowles
Key Position: Offense
It was a struggle for this unit last year. Now with Tom Brady officially retiring, enter QB Baker Mayfield to replace him. The former number one overall pick will now be playing for his fourth team. It’s possible this one could stick with the likes of WRs Mike Evans and Chris Godwin establishing themselves as top wideouts. The offensive line got a few upgrades and there are a lot of folks that are expecting big things from RB Rachaad White as the top running back.
Key Acquisitions: OL Matt Feiler (LA Chargers), DL Greg Gaines (LA Rams), QB Baker Mayfield (LA Rams), DB Ryan Neal (Seattle Seahawks)
Key Rookies: DL Calijah Kancey, OL Cody Mauch, DE/LB Yaya Diaby
Head Coach: Frank Reich (Indianapolis Colts)
Key Position: Offense
They went for it and traded for the number one pick to get their quarterback. Bryce Young is a highly touted Heisman trophy winning quarterback from Alabama and is expected to do great things. He doesn’t have the best targets in the league, but they could be worse. WRs Adam Thielen and DJ Chark Jr. were free agent additions that are strong redzone targets. The offensive line isn’t great, but has a solid OT in Ikem Ekwonu to build around. Signing RB Miles Sanders was a good pickup who will help not just by running the ball, but also as a check down option when Young is under duress.
Key Acquisitions: DB Vonn Bell (Cincinnati Bengals), WR DJ Chark Jr. (Detroit Lions), QB Andy Dalton (New Orleans Saints), LB Kamu Grugier-Hill (Arizona Cardinals), CB Troy Hill (LA Rams), DE/LB Justin Houston (Baltimore Ravens), TE Hayden Hurst (Cincinnati Bengals), RB Miles Sanders (Philadelphia Eagles), WR Adam Thielen (Minnesota Vikings), DT Shy Tuttle (New Orleans Saints), DT DeShawn Williams (Denver Broncos)
Key Rookies: QB Bryce Young, WR Jonathan Mingo, LB DJ Johnson, OL Chandler Zavala
