1. Philadelphia Eagles
A stacked roster took a hit in the offseason, but their core remains poised to continue dominating the NFC.
2. Dallas Cowboys
For a franchise that hasn’t appeared in a conference title game since 1995, owner Jerry Jones has been taking it pretty well.
3. New York Giants
Their progression back to contention has now accelerated after last years Wild Card upset over Minnesota.
4. Washington Commanders
A new owner has now taken the helm and this could be the last ride for the current coaching staff.
Head Coach: Nick Sirianni
Key Position: Running Back
Obviously QB Jalen Hurts is a large part of the running game for the Eagles, but losing RB Miles Sanders might come back to haunt them. The intriguing options to replace him are D’Andre Swift and Rashaad Penny. Both were highly regarded from their previous teams, but have been largely disappointing. If one or both are able to replicate what Sanders did then this group will be another strength going forward.
Key Acquisitions: LB Zach Cunningham (Tennessee Titans), DB Terrell Edmunds (Pittsburgh Steelers), DB Justin Evans (New Orleans Saints), QB Marcus Mariota (Atlanta Falcons), RB Rashaad Penny (Seattle Seahawks), RB D’Andre Swift (Detroit Lions)
Key Rookies: DT Jalen Carter, LB Nolan Smith, DB Sydney Brown, CB Kelee Ringo
Head Coach: Mike McCarthy
Key Position: Quarterback
No one expected Dak Prescott to lead the league in interceptions last season. Even with that Dallas did win their Wild Card game and got to the Divisional Round, but advance no further. Prescott’s performance is starting to come into question and while the Cowboys are financially committed to him, the fan base is starting to grumble. This will be an interesting season to see if he bounces back.
Key Acquisitions: WR Brandin Cooks (Houston Texans), CB Stephon Gilmore (Indianapolis Colts), CB Noah Igbinoghene (Miami Dolphins), QB Trey Lance (San Francisco 49ers), RB Ronald Jones (Tampa Bay Buccaneers)
Key Rookies: DT Mazi Smith, TE Luke Schoonmaker, DE Viliami Fehoko Jr., RB Deuce Vaughn
Head Coach: Brian Daboll
Key Position: Offense
Can they repeat their performance from a year ago? QB Daniel Jones was extended after a career year. RB Saquon Barkley was brought back on the franchise tag. Those two were a large part of the Giants success last year. Enter new tight end Darren Waller who was acquired in a trade from Las Vegas. It’s expected that he will be the number one target for Jones going forward. New WR Parris Campbell could be another target who hasn’t live up to expectations elsewhere. The offensive line is quickly becoming a strong core and should continue their rise among the leagues best.
Key Acquisitions: WR Parris Campbell (Indianapolis Colts), DB Bobby McCain (Washington Commanders), DL Rakeem Nunez-Roches (Tampa Bay Buccaneers), DL A’Shawn Robinson (LA Rams), LB/DB Isaiah Simmons (Arizona Cardinals), TE Darren Waller (Las Vegas Raiders), LB Bobby Okereke (Indianapolis Colts)
Key Rookies: CB Deonte Banks, OL John Michael Schmitz Jr., WR Jalin Hyatt, CB Tre Hawkins III
Head Coach: Ron Rivera
Key Position: Offense
It could potentially get worse for them this year if QB Sam Howell doesn’t live up to what he showed from his one start last season. He has some good receivers in Terry McLaurin and Jahan Dotson. Curtis Samuel is a wild card that can be effective in many formations. RB Brian Robinson Jr. is a key component and if he can get off to a strong start that could spark the rest of the unit. RB Antonio Gibson is another weapon that will utilized a lot in the passing attack.
Key Acquisitions: DL Abdullah Anderson (Atlanta Falcons), LB Cody Barton (Seattle Seahawks), QB Jacoby Brissett (Cleveland Browns), OL Nick Gates (NY Giants), OT Andrew Wylie (Kansas City Chiefs)
Key Rookies: CB Emmanuel Forbes Jr., DB Jartavius Martin, OL Ricky Stromberg
