NFL Conference Championship Game Recaps

Standard
Omaha Heads To The Super Bowl
First of all, Peyton Manning yelling out Omaha is not something new.  Stop acting like you’ve never heard him say it when he’s at the line of scrimmage.  Alas, it won’t stop now that the Denver Broncos are headed to the Super Bowl.
What was weird is how easy it looked for Denver in their game with New England.  I figured the Patriots would take some chances testing the Broncos secondary and they did.  Problem is they didn’t connect on them. Tom Brady overthrew a wide open receiver early and Denver figured out New England’s game plan pretty quickly.  The running game was no where to be found and there was no pressure on Peyton throughout most of the game.  The result was a pretty one sided affair which is weird to see it in Peyton’s favor and not Brady’s.  New England had no answer for the Broncos offense.  I’m sure the Patriots will learn from this and try to shore up their defense to compensate for the impending rematch next year whether it be in the regular season and/or the playoffs.  For now Denver is looking like the favorites to win it all.
Exactly What We Expected

We all wanted to see a great game with two rivals that gave their all.  They didn’t disappoint and it could possibly be the best game of the entire season.  It wasn’t a perfect game, but it kept everyone on the edge of their seats with every snap.  Both teams made mistakes and they will be second guessed for some time.  San Francisco certainly didn’t care for any home field advantage that Seattle had and the Seahawks weren’t overwhelmed with Colin Kaepernick running right through their defense.  Three big turnovers by the 49ers late in the game didn’t help them and the Seahawks couldn’t seem to put them away when they had to.  With just over 30 seconds to go a tipped ball was what Seattle needed to come away with a victory.  Afterwards though we were stuck with the soundbite of Seahawks CB Richard Sherman.  Aside from that this was a great game and we would like to think that these two teams have come to respect one another, but that wouldn’t make it a good rivalry then.
